Championship Course #9 is inspired by Bay Hill #11 Par 4.
Inspiration: The final hole on the Championship 9 is a tribute to the 11th at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club in Orlando, Florida.
Details: With water running down the left side of the fairway, this dogleg left places a premium on drives favoring the right, but not too far right, for there the bunkers await. If you’re going to miss, the only safe bet is short of the green.
History: Bay Hill captured Arnold Palmer’s heart so completely that he purchased the course in the 1970’s, sculpting and refining it over the next 20 years. Six water hazards and 108 bunkers testify to Palmer’s love of gambling, scrambling and heroic golf. Palmer has had his own trouble on the course, however, shooting an 85 in 1983.
