Championship Course #1 is inspired by Winged Foot #18 Par 4.
Inspiration: This par 4 is a tribute to the 18th hole on the East Course at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York.
Details: A well-placed tee shot to the narrow fairway leaves a short-but-daunting approach to a severely-pitched green. Any second shot that finds the putting surface is considered good.
History: In 1929, Winged Foot hosted its first US Open, where the legendary Bobby Jones won with a score of 14 over par, a testament to the course’s many challenges. Since that time, Winged Foot has hosted the men’s and women’s US Opens, as well serving as the inaugural site of the US Senior Open in 1980.
