This par 5 is a tribute to the final hole of “Amen Corner”, the 13th at Augusta National.

Details: This par 5 dogleg left encompasses each of the 3 schools of golf course architecture: strategic, penal and heroic. The tee shot is to a wide-open fairway, but the tributary to Rae’s Creek runs along the left side, crossing in front of the green. The fairway slopes down towards the creek.
History: On this final hole at Amen Corner, Nelson Bridge (named after legendary golfer Byron Nelson) crosses Rae’s Creek before the fairway. The beauty of Augusta is nowhere more evident than at #13, where 1,600 azaleas flower from tee to green, thus the hole’s nickname “Azalea”. In 1958, Arnold Palmer eagled #13 en route to winning his first major championship.
