Championship Course – #4
This par 4’s layout is a tribute to the 11th hole at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, home of the Masters.
PAR 4 | HCP 2
- Black: 455 yards
- Gold: 435 yards
- Silver: 344 yards
- Green: 334 yards
Details: The 11th fairway at Augusta plays narrower than it looks, water on the left and bunkers long and right can ensnare the unwary. Mounds guard the front of the green, which slopes from right to left, feeding balls towards the water.
History: Great American golf writer Herbert Warren Wind thought prayers were needed to get players through the 11th, 12th and 13th at the Masters without disaster, hence the name “Amen Corner”. Conventional wisdom states that the Masters doesn’t really start until Sunday on the back 9, and the green jacket is often won or lost at “Amen Corner”.
