Our staff members, that include several Myrtle Beach golf pros, receive meticulous training to ensure that your World Tour golf experience meets your every expectation and ensures that World Tour remains a must-play golf destination.
General Manager Tom Plankers comes from San Jose, California, but has lived in the area since 1970. He served three tours in Vietnam in Navy aviation. His father was a manager at General Electric, working in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Tom’s first job was at Pine Valley Country Club in Wilmington. The second place he worked was the very private Cape Fear Country Club, which is the oldest country club in North Carolina. His first Head Professional job was at Oak Island Country Club. From there he became Head Professional at Bald Head Island – and he lived on Bald Head Island for 26 years. Later, he crossed the border to South Carolina to work at Ocean Ridge Plantation and then Sea Trail Golf Resort before taking the helm at World Tour in 2012.
When Tom took the job at World Tour, he expressed his passion for the course. He stated, “World Tour has always been one of the golfer’s favorite choices. My goal is to really get the notoriety back here. It’s gorgeous and magnificent and I want golfers to come play us.” Soon after he began at World Tour, he supervised a major scheduled renovation.
He started playing golf when he was 12 years old and continued to play seriously through high school, including team golf. He lives with his wife in St. James, North Carolina, just outside of Southport, and commutes to World Tour every day.
Head Golf Professional Casey Cook comes from Maryland, near Annapolis. Before taking this position in March 2015, he worked his way up from Assistant to Head Professional at TPC Myrtle Beach, from 2007 until his move to World Tour. He became a Class A PGA member in 2013.
Casey started playing golf at age 12, playing with his father, and got his first job at age 15, picking the range. He graduated from Wesley College in Dover, Delaware, with a math degree. But his plans to become a high school math teacher up North changed when he came to Myrtle Beach on vacation – after which he settled here and decided on a golf-related career, in 2007.
Casey is married and has a young daughter and even younger son (due June 2015).
